Talked into new a/c & Heating Unit

Company called on a Saturday offering a $49 service check and said the previous owners had used there company and was time for a check. I agreed and when they came to check they said all the coils were rusted and probably was not working properly. They had me convinced that it was going to overflow, that nothing was working properly and that I need a whole new system. It is funny how fast they determined all of this and were able to immediately get me a new system for $5800. I actually think he said he wouldn't turn it back on because of all the problems. I really have no one to blame but myself for not checking it with a professional company. First of all I just bought the house in September and it passed inspection. Second the previous owners never used this company. This was done on December 1, 2014 and I have been sick about it ever since. After reading some of the other complaints it sounded a lot like what they did to me. Did I actually need a new unit? I don't really know because I did not have another company check it out. My advice, have another opinion! I have been sick about this whole situation and very depressed to think I was vulnerable enough to let this happen. They keep calling me to get me to get their maintenance service. Do you think I would ever let them do anything for me again. NO.

This company took advantage of my 87 year old mother and sd her a completely new system that she didn't need. That was 16 months ago.

Today I called them out because the air would not work they told me it needed a new coil and that the part was under warranty but it would be $1000 labor!!!

They just did a tune up on it 2 weeks prior and told me everything was running great! They are shysters and liars and I would not trust them!

They called me, offering a $59.95 inspection and freon fill. The representative came out and when I told him I had two units he told me it would be $109.90. He opened up my unit. He had a probe that beeped then gave a steady sound when he pointed it at the coils of my Trane. He said that the coils were rusted and there was a freon leak. He then did the exact same thing with the upstairs unit. He went outside and looked at the two fan units but did not open them or look at anything but the serial numbers. He did not check the freon pressure at all. He quoted me $11000 for immediate replacement of both units with 15-SEER units. I paid the bill but then called a different company for a second opinion. It was immediately apparent that the first company had not given me an honest assessment of the situation. My systems are not leaking freon and both are running just fine. No service was actually performed by ProMag Energy.

I am thankful to Dan C with Promag

I first called Promag & Air Conditioning to assess my system when I noticed water coming from my pipes. This was the first company I contacted and I think I lucked up when I did. The girl that answered the phone told I could take advantage of a special ($49.95), the technician (Dan C) arrived and did a full inspection of my system and fixed it. Dan did not try to sell me a new system. Did not try to tell me what “I need”. He was professional and polite and made me feel comfortable. I have been in this area for many years and since my husband passed away I been nervous to have anyone come to my house. He is one of VERY FEW repair men I trust to call and would recommend this company to anyone.

ProMag Energy Group - Dishonest Employee Service Review from Silver Springs, Florida

Iam an ex-employee, here's what happened working for the dishonest compamy! My boss Marty propositioned me three times the first month, of course I shut him down. He was my boss, and he is a gross looking man. So after the second month, out of the blue, he calls and says to me "_ _ _ _ _, I know that we have been having personal issues, I talked to JD and I'm sorry but i have to let you go." So I call JD, told him what M_r_y said, and he said "if M_r_y said you're fired ,then that's what it is." Not only is Promag dishonest, JD allows a *** to run his Margate office, even knowing that M_r_y is back on cocaine. Word to the wise, go elsewhere, don't let them near your dwellings.

D0ES NOT MEET THE BETTER BUSINESS STANDARDS NOT ACCREDITED BY THEM!

I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE NOT ACCREDITED BY THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU BECAUSE THEY DO NOT UPHOLD TO THEIR STANDARDS. THEY INSTALLED A NEW AIR CONDITIONING UNIT, BUT AFTER 3 MONTHS THEY HAD TO INSTALL A NEW MOTOR. EVERY SINCE, I'VE HAD 2 MOTORS INSTALLED ON A 3 YEAR OLD UNIT FROM THIS COMPANY. HAD TO GET THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY TO FINALLY COME OUT AFTER MANY MONTHS OF REPAIRS. HE GAVE ME A 5 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE UNIT. TWO MONTHS LATER, I HAD ANOTHER ISSUE, THEY GAVE ME A DIFFICULT TIME ABOUT SERVICING THE UNIT. FINALLY CAME OUT AN REPAIRED THE UNIT. HOWEVER, THE VERY NEXT DAY...IT STOPPED COOLING. PROMAG CLAIMED THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO PURCHASE A DRAIN PIPE LINE AND REFUSED TO COME OUT AND SERVICE THE UNIT. DEMANDED A RETURN PHONE CALL FROM THE PRESIDENT, SO FAR NO CALL. HAD TO CALL ANOTHER COMPANY TO DO THE REPAIRS AND I DO NOT NEED A NEW DRAIN PINE LINE! ONLY PRO MAG FAILED TO OPEN THE UNIT AND CHECK FOR ANYTHING ELSE. AS IT TURNED OUT IT WAS THE CONTACT PROTECTOR HAD BURNED UP AND WAS WELDED SHUT! NEVER USE THEM! HAD DOCUMENTATION REGARDING THE UNIT OF REPAIRS!

This company will not stop calling. ProMag Energy Group

They call and they call trying to sell their plans for maintenance on your air conditioners. You ask them to stop and they keep on calling . They need to get real jobs and not bother people in their home that don't ask them to call. It is all a scam, do they not watch all the reports on TV about this. A Reputable air and heating company would not call people and harass you like this. And yes I do know reputable air conditioning people in my family and they would tell you the same thing. When you complain to them about their calling they just laugh at you.

Poor workmanship, taking advatage of the elderly and un-informed.

This company installed a new a/c system in my in-laws property incorrectly as the water condensate faces uphill and water drains back into the system. The ductwork is full of mold that they are quoting $7,000 to replace. None of their techs noticed the problem and have recommended and installed all manner of expensive add ons (UV air filters, ductwork cleaning etc) to cure the mold issue. I had a reputable company in to look at the system after the latest fault, the took out 9 - 10 gallons of water from the ductwork with a shop vac and noticed the condensate line issue straight away. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!

ProMag Energy Group - Repair Review

After they kept calling me at home at seven times a day, I decided to give them a try. A tech came out and said we needed a expensive repair and charged us for a visit and putting Freon in. A reputable company came out and said that it appeared that Freon had been removed and we didn't need any repairs. All we needed was to put a panel in the door to allow more air to circulate. We spent money that we didn't have and didn't need to spend because the second company thought we had a leak because the next day we were five pounds short. I can't prove that Promag removed Freon from the unit to convince me that I needed a expensive repair just a little suspicious.

Paid $700 an hour labor

I called ProMag because they had installed the AC in the home I just purchased. Parts were still under warranty. They charged $55 service fee just to come look at it, then $375 to install a motor that was under warranty. I was told I had to pay for the tech to order the part (cause they don't stock it) and go pick it up and then drive to my home and install it. He was here for less than half an hour. And then they tried to sell me all this *** I didn't need. I spoke with several AC techs and they said I got "taken". I will post where ever I can about what a rip off this company is.

Sucker punched me...Right in the stomach...

I am a landlord and needed a repair on my central air unit, I had a friend who checked it out told me it was the capicitor needed replacing. Called this agency from google, guy called me back told me price but 800 # told me another price. After talking to him I told him verbally to let me think about it and I will call him back to confirm. He said that was great because he just took his dinner out of the oven and wanted to eat, Well I didn't call back because it was too expensive and I was looking for another company. Next thing I knew my tenant called and stated the AC guy was there fixed and waiting to get paid $495 later. then I could not get a receipt was surpose to email it to me. Callled and they stated something wrong with there internet still waiting, company told me that I will get tomorrow. I will see can't wait to see what he did for $495. I could have purchase a new one. But my tenant went the night before with no air so I couldn't do it to them, because if it were me I wouldn't want it done to me. I TREAT PEOPLE AS I WANT TO BE TREATED. CAN'T SAY THAT FOR THIS COMPANY..STAY AWAY..

Sold me a new AC although, my AC was under warranty

Called Promag Energy Group out to my residence because my AC was making some weird noises, a man by the name of James Pumphrey arrives and inspects my unit. Mr. Pumphrey said that there were leaking coils. I asked James, is my AC under warranty? James replied no...which I later came to find out that was a big bold face lie. Goodman indicated that my AC was under warranty for 5 years. Please do your research before hiring this company. I was out of $6800 for an AC that was covered under warranty. Hmmmm lets see labor vs. a new AC, I'll take labor any day. Do your research, don't make a huge mistake. Hiring Promag Energy Group is a mistake you'll regret.

Our experience with the scammers at Promag Energy Group, Inc.

BEWARE! Promag Energy Group, Inc., SCAM BEWARE!

Our experience with the scammers at Promag Energy Group, Inc.

We got lucky and only got ripped off for about $500 it could have been much worse.

On June 12th my daughters A/C was not cooling, I recommended a reputable AC company I had used in the past but they do not do after hour service so she found Promag Energy Group, Inc. and they agreed to come out that night for a service charge of $55. The technician immediately determined that the AC needed to be completely replaced and quoted a new unit for $4,500. My daughter did not have this amount of money and called me. I talked to the tech on the phone and he informed me that since the AC used R22 Freon, and said that R22 was no longer available and if it was it was "illegal" for him to put it in the system therefore the whole system had to be replaced, I knew this was not true. I told my daughter to tell him to leave since I caught him already in many lies and we would have the reputable AC company come out the next day, the technician then presented a bill for $109, when the charge was questioned against the $55 that was quoted he stated he did not know anything about that rate and demanded immediate payment. My daughter has an 8 year old Trane AC with a 10 year warranty so why does the system need to be replaced since it should be covered by warranty?

The next morning Promag Energy Group showed up and said they would charge the system with the r22 Freon, (remember last night they said it was not available and illegal and had to replace the whole system), and do a leak test. She allowed them to do this but told them if any equipment needed service or replacement that it was under warranty. Well, they now could not find a Freon leak or anything wrong with the equipment so the leak must be in the copper line between inside and outside unit and that would not be covered by the warranty and that the coil was dirty and needed cleaning again that would not be covered under warranty either, they quoted $1,800 for this service. I told them to leave that e were calling a reputable company since we continue to catch them in lies. The technician from Promag Energy Group then presented a bill for $500 for the diagnostics and the Freon. That means they would have chared a total od $2,300 for a repairs that was not needed. This was abusive for the work performed, but the technician threatened my daughter and refused to leave until this outrageous bill was paid. After the outrageous bill was paid the tech left and then immediately returned

Then I had my normal and reputable AC company look at the system, they did a leak test of the entire system and the line between the inside and outside units and they did not find a leak, said the coil was fine and did not need to be cleaned. The unit did not need to be replaced and that although new systems did not have R22 freon anymore there was no issue getting R22 and that this unit should work fine for many years to come. Plus the unit was still covered under the Trane warranty.See the info about R22 from the EPA: http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/phaseout/ac_repair_replacing.html

BEWARE: this is normal tactics for this company to prey on the uninformed and sell unneeded services and equipment, find things "wrong" with your AC when they are just fine. See the numerous complaints and stories from other customers. They have 19 complaints at the Better Business Bureauhttp://www.bbb.org/central-florida/business-reviews/air-conditioning-contractors-and-systems/promag-energy-group-a-c-and-heating-in-orlando-fl-3800****/complaints

Also see links to others at various websites I have listed a FEW samples at links below, it is good reading.

They have been brought before the Marion County License Review Board. See this poor customer’s experience too. http://sire.marioncountyfl.org/sirepub/cache/2/ratawj55lxzftzandbfpddix/159530****201********.PDF

PROMAG ENERGY GROUP A/C & HEATING, INC has been disciplined and fined by the State of Florida, Department of Business and Professional Regulation, see: https://www.myfloridalicense.com/viewcomplaint.asp?SID=&licid=777385

There is inconsistencies in the corporate structure, the invoice shows Promag Energy Group, Inc. with a License # of cmca48033 but that license # is registered to PROMAG ENERGY GROUP A/C & HEATING, INC located at 24927 E. COLONIAL DR. CHRISTMAS, FL 32709, not Promag Energy Group, Inc.

Promag Energy Group, Inc. has an address listed at 425 GASTON FOSTER ROADORLANDO, FL 32807

These are separate corporations listed at the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations, beware of the inconsistencies, this is a "red flag"!http://search.sunbiz.org/Inquiry/CorporationSearch/SearchResults/EntityName/promag/Page1

I went by the address 24927 E. COLONIAL DR. CHRISTMAS, FL 32709 and here is a picture of what is there, a sketchy structure, and a "No Trespassing" sign with a picture of a gun and the words "Christmas Justice". I can say BEWARE!!

http://coolfresh.webs.com/septembercljobscams.htmRE:Ac tech, and installers (Orlando)Date: 2010-09-16, 4:56PM EDTThis "promag energy group" is nothing but *** in the wall company that makes its living off scamming older people. You dont even need to know how to do service, as long as you can turn a clogged drain into a serious problem that can only be fixed by buying a new unit. They have 2 techs I can think of (out of the 3 they have) that brag about how they dont even need to inspect the unit to do "their job." They will unplug wires and break things themselves to make a paycheck. By working for this company, unless you are willing to scam everyone you come across, youll be doing installs until you quit or if that dosnt work, then they will fire you. JD Harris, owner and operator has many BBB complaints about this company, thats why the name has changed so many times with a company that hasnt been around more than 15 years. He himself does service calls in the mannor I stated above. More than one time did I come behind his work to see him turn a faulty firestat into a thousand dollar bill of replacement parts that were unneeded and uncalled for, only to collect the money from some older lady you could tell was left to fend for herself when her mind went and her children followed. Use caution when applying to this company. I know im going to *** for the little bit of money I made, but if good business and honest workmenship matter to you, this is NOT the company for you.

R22 phase outhttp://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/phaseout/ac_repair_replacing.htmlI hear regulations are banning the refrigerant in my air conditioner. Why is that? The refrigerant used in nearly all home air conditioners made before January 1, 2010, is R-22. Because R-22 depletes the Earth’s protective ozone layer, EPA is gradually reducing amounts of that chemical that can be produced. In fact, EPA’s regulations ban manufacturers from making new air conditioners that use R-22. But to preserve the useful life of R-22 equipment consumers have already purchased, EPA allows R-22 to be used to service existing air conditioners.Do the regulations mean I have to replace my existing home AC? No. You are not required to replace your existing home air conditioner. Even if your air conditioner needs major repairs, you are not required to replace it.
